17 Different Backgrounds!

Thank you to every single person who stopped in for our Pi Day Open House on March 14th. We loved hosting you and sharing our new space with everyone.

Since we opened our doors, every morning when I walk into my new studio I am so grateful for the new space, the new energy, and the multiple options that people can choose from when considering what their background might look like. From a custom built wooden wall to 10 different seamless paper backdrops, to painted walls, to the solid white wall as shown in the photo above, we've carefully curated the various aesthetics that you can find in this new space.

The studio is open and ready for visitors to stop by for a quick 1-hour shoot, or settle in for a full day of shooting whether video or photo. Book your time today!

And if you missed our open house, you can book a tour and imagine the possibilities. I've also updated our website with new photos of the various background options.

New that we've moved, I've also been working on some monthly events that people can participate in to fill their artistic bucket and connect with other artists and entrepreneurs.

Creative Day at OMG

Join us for Creative Day at OMG starting this Friday, April 4th!

Every 1st Friday of the month, from 11am - 3pm, OMG Studios opens its doors to artists of all disciplines for a day of creativity, collaboration, and connection.

Bring an unfinished project, explore new ideas, and get inspired by the energy of fellow creatives. This is a space to work alongside like-minded artists, build community, and fuel your creative process.

Free studio access (equipment not included). Drop in, create, and connect. OMG reserves the right to limit entry.

Artrepreneur Circle

Join OMG Media Outlet and OMGFemaleFilmmakers at OMG Studios for Artrepeneur Circle!

Every 2nd Tuesday of the month, 9:30am - 10:30am, starting on May 13th.

Being a business owner can be a lonely endeavor, it is even more isolating when you work in the artistic space. Artrepreneur Circle is a mastermind-style gathering where like-minded creatives come together to share knowledge, tackle challenges, and support one another’s growth.

Bring your business questions, insights, and experiences—we’ll collaborate, problem-solve, and empower each other toward greater success. Let’s thrive together!

Email creative@omgmediaoutlet.com to join the circle and connect with fellow creative entrepreneurs.

OMG! Steph is blogging … again!

When I first moved to Boise, now 20-years ago!, I blogged every single day. It was a way to get my thoughts out of my head and onto the internet and in turn in front of clients. At the time, my now ex-husband (OMG, did you even know I was once married?!) and I ran an internet shop where I made fantasy costumes and he made wooden art pieces. I blogged, because I had no friends at the time and got bored just talking to him. I also did it to share business updates. I've missed blogging and while I have not given myself a specific schedule for blogging, I did finally start it up again this year with the goal to write on a weekly basis. Goal still in progress.

I have my more personal blog on my OMGFemaleFilmmakers website, where I do blog about video creation, but go deeper into my personal why and what drives me as a business owner.

My more video-centric blog can be found on my OMG Media Outlet website, where I share insights and tips on various aspects of our industry. My first two posts break down what it might take to build your own video studio and suggestions for teleprompters and teleprompter software. With years of experience behind me, I think I know a little bit about what I'm blogging about.

Check them out and let me know if you have any topics you're interested in learning more about.

The Studio

While most of our work centers around our clients, occasionally we pull out the creativity for ourselves. Back in June of 2023, after having just opened the studio and while I was still in grad school, I gathered a bunch of film friends and we made a short film together! It took a while to complete this project and now, two years later and after a big studio move, we are honored to be accepted into the Colossal Cinematic Showcase.

This relevant short film, which I plan to turn into an episodic involving more local film creators, will be showing on May 4, 2025, in Boise, Idaho, at Overland Park Cinemas. Doors open at 3:45pm, films start showing at 4:30pm, and the after party starts at 6:30pm at Mad Swede Brewing on Cole Road.

Come watch our little film and celebrate other local films with us! To learn more and buy tickets, visit the Colossal Cinematic Showcase website.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of The Studio! I cannot wait for you to watch this.

Video Tip of the Month

Trying to make a video, but don't have proper lighting? Use natural light. Position yourself facing a window, not with the window behind you, and let the natural sunlight from that window light your face. If shooting outside, avoid shooting at high noon when the shadows are harsh, instead, shoot during the golden hour, which is the first hour after sunrise, or the last hour before sunset.

I would love it if you would share our newsletter with your friends!
